What Is… Self Learning?

Self LearningTM is a continuing professional development (CPD) program produced by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) that allows physicians to evaluate their knowledge and receive further information on clinical topics in the current medical literature. The program consists of six bi-monthly issues of a workbook containing clinical questions. Members and others can subscribe and receive regular issues by mail, online, or both. Available in French and English, online and in print, Self Learning is convenient CPD that you can complete anytime, anywhere.

Each issue contains multiple choice questions, drawn from peer-reviewed medical journals, and short-answer management problems (SAMPs) that explore clinical scenarios in greater depth. Each question is followed by an educational point summarizing the information drawn from the appropriate article.

Self Learning delivers up-to-date information relevant to the practice of family medicine. It is compiled by family physicians, for family physicians and provides access to information derived from more than 100 peer-reviewed journals

This activity qualifies for up to 30 Mainpro+® certified Self-Learning credits. Self Learning is an affordable alternative to expensive CPD conferences and is available online free of charge for family medicine residents and medical students.
