CFPC launches Mainpro+®

June 27, 2016

(June 27, 2016, Mississauga, ON) – The College of Family Physicians of Canada’s (CFPC) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) department is pleased to announce the official launch of our new credit reporting platform, Mainpro+.

In an effort to provide ongoing quality CPD, the Mainpro reporting system has been enhanced to meet the changing interests and learning requirements of family physicians across Canada. This new online platform will make accessing credit summaries, completed activities, in-progress activities, and official transcripts much easier and more intuitive for physicians.

“The CFPC is dedicated  to supporting Mainpro participants through quality programs, efficient reporting, and personalized support. Our new Mainpro+ CPD framework meets the highest standards of quality,” says the CFPC’s Executive Director and CEO, Francine Lemire, MD CM, CCFP, FCFP, CAE. “With the new system, members can access enhanced CPD learning opportunities that have been designed with flexible options to reflect the interests and needs of family physicians.”

Enhancements and new features built into Mainpro+ include:

  • Three credit reporting categories that are easier to understand: Group Learning, Self-Learning, and Assessment
  • Opportunities to earn credit with more practice-based activities
  • Opportunities to earn one, two, or three credits per hour with a greater variety of activities and programs
  • Reflective processes facilitated through mandatory self-assessments of the impact of learning on practice
  • New user-friendly online reporting portal

“The CFPC will continue to ensure that CPD programs are based on the best available scientific evidence, and grounded in adult learning principles,” adds the CFPC’s Executive Director, Professional Development and Practice Support, Jamie Meuser, MD, CCFP, FCFP. “Mainpro+ will equal or exceed the standards of other accrediting organizations nationally and internationally.”

The College understands that change can be challenging, and wants to ensure all Mainpro participants have a successful transition to Mainpro+. The CFPC’s CPD department staff will be available to support participants throughout this transitional period. Mainpro participants are invited to learn more about these changes through the CPD department’s latest whiteboard video and instructional resources on the CFPC website.

Mainpro+ was developed in collaboration with the CFPC National Committee on Continuing Professional Development (NCCPD). The NCCPD has family physician representation from each of the 10 CFPC provincial Chapters.
