What we do

The Certification Process and Assessment Committee (CPAC) is a sub-committee of the Board of Examiners that defines evaluation objectives and strategies to enhance the assessment of competence in family medicine for the purposes of learning and certification.

Responsibilities of the Committee:

  1. Oversee the ongoing development, improvement and implementation of evaluation objectives for learning, assessment and certification in family medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) (e.g., Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada and Certificate of Added Competence)
  2. Develop and recommend principles for the assessment of competence across the continuum (undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing professional development)
  3. Advise in the design of effective assessment programs across the continuum
  4. Advance the assessment of competence by liaising with other national and international experts and organizations involved in the assessment of physician competence and through generating and disseminating education scholarship
