British Columbia College of Family Physicians

Resident Scholarship Day
The British Columbia College of Family Physicians (BCCFP) provides support for the University of British Columbia Family Medicine Postgraduate Residency Program’s Resident Scholarship Day by sponsoring prizes for the best projects. At the June 16th event, BCCFP President Dr. Christie Newton was on hand to present $1,000 in prizes.

Resident Scholarship Day provides second-year family medicine residents with the opportunity to showcase two years of work on projects that demonstrate competence in a scholarly activity relevant to family medicine.

Each Resident Scholar Project is designed to demonstrate various CanMEDS-FM competencies in the Scholar, Professional, Health Advocate, Collaborator, Communicator, and Expert Roles. This project is also a way to inspire residents to continue engaging in academic pursuits during their careers, with the goal of discovering new knowledge and fostering innovation in family medicine.

Residents present to members of the Department of Family Practice, including clinician scholars, community-based researchers and midwives, and clinical and academic faculty.
