CFPC/Choosing Wisely Canada Toolkit
Our multimedia-friendly toolkit equips health care providers with user-friendly videos, printable posters for their clinics, and printable infographics designed to facilitate informed discussions and give patients resources they can take home.
Infographics
These relevant and easy to read handouts allow patients and health care providers to take away the information being provided and refer back to it as needed. (The infographics are designed to print on 8.5 x 11 paper, and could be printed on the front and back of a single sheet for convenience.)
Physicians and other health care providers can display these informative posters in their practice settings to spark discussions with patients and colleagues. (The posters are designed to print on 11 x 17 paper.)
Do More Screening Tests Lead to Better Health?
This 10-minute educational video focuses on a number of common screening tests (vitamin D malabsorption, mammography, thyroid testing, etc.) to help inform dialogue between family physicians and their patients on appropriate testing.
This abbreviated 3-minute version of the Dr Mike Evans video focuses on a number of common screening tests that are overused or inappropriately used and therefore considered low-value care for much of the population. Watch this video to learn more.
This initiative is a positive step for the CFPC to nationally coordinate communication tools that family physicians and patients can access directly at the point of care. High quality materials delivered in innovative ways such as this are important in helping empower patients to proactively prepare for dialogues with their health care providers.
