Research Awards & Grants for Family Physicians

These awards recognize achievement in family medicine research and support CFPC members in research projects related to meeting the changing needs of their community:

Janus Research Grants

Supporting academic and community-based family physicians, CFPC members in active practice, to carry out research projects that meet the changing needs of their patients and communities in Canada. The deadline to submit is March 1, 2012.

Janus Research Grant Training Level 1

Supporting academic and community-based family physician who are CFPC members in active practice, in the development of a research grant proposal. The deadline to submit is March 1, 2012.

Janus Research Grant Training Level 2

These grants are intended to build family medicine research capacity. They will support family medicine researchers at an early stage of their research career. Complete applications must reach the CFPC national office by March 1, 2012.

Daniel Glazier Award for Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse

Supporting family physicians in active practice in research, education, knowledge translation, and skills acquisition in the area of adolescent mental health and substance abuse. The deadline to submit is March 1, 2012. 

British Columbia College of Family Physicians (BCCFP) Research Awards

These awards support original research work carried out by practicing family physician members of the BC College of Family Physicians (BCCFP), postgraduate family medicines residents and medical students enrolled at the University of British Columbia.  Applications will be reviewed quarterly. All applications must be sent to the BCCFP Chapter Office. Submission deadlines are:August 31, 2011; November 30, 2011; February 28, 2012; May 31, 2012 

Family Medicine Researcher of the Year

Recognizing a family medicine researcher who has made original contributions to research and knowledge building for family medicine in Canada. Nominations must reach the CFPC national office by April 1, 2012.    

CFPC Lifetime Achievement Awards in Family Medicine Research

Recognizing individuals who made a significant sustained contribution to family medicine research during their active career years.  Nominations must reach the CFPC national office by April 1, 2012.

CFPC Outstanding Family Medicine Research Article Award

Recognizing the best research article published in a national or international journal during the preceding year. Nominations must reach the CFPC national office by March 1, 2012. 

CFP Outstanding Family Medicine Research Article Award

Recognizing the best research article published in the Canadian Family Physician during the preceding year. The recipient will be notified of results in July 2012.
