Guillaume CharbonneauDr. Guillaume Charbonneau received his medical degree from the University of Montreal in 2004. In 2006, he completed his family medicine residency training at the Université de Sherbrooke and received Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).

Dr. Charbonneau works at the Centre de santé et de service sociaux de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau (CSSSVG) in Maniwaki, Quebec. In addition to his clinical practice, he also works in the emergency department and the in-hospital and intensive care units.

For seven years, Dr. Charbonneau has served as Head of the Department of Medicine at the CSSSVG. Since the merger of the Outaouais institutions in 2016, he has led services for an area known as the Territoire de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau in the Centre Intégré de la santé et des services sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSSO). In this role, he successfully led initiatives to address physician shortages in his area.

Dr. Charbonneau is the primary care medical coordinator for his region, and manages resources for patients seeking a family physician. Dr. Charbonneau was President of the Quebec College of Family Physicians from 2008 to 2010, and a member of the CFPC Board of Directors. With continued involvement with the CFPC, he completed a term as Secretary-Treasurer of the CFPC Board in 2015-2016, and President-Elect from 2016-2017.

Since starting his practice, Dr. Charbonneau has promoted family medicine as a specialty. His goal was realized when family medicine was officially recognized as a speciality across Canada in 2007 and by the Collège des médecins du Québec in 2010.

In 2011, Dr. Charbonneau received the CFPC’s Jean-Pierre Despins Award, which honours a CFPC member identified as an outstanding advocate and public spokesperson for family medicine, family physicians, and their patients.
