Facing challenges with courage and humility in CFP

June 2017

        “We live with huge disparities.”
                                                —Dr. Lisa Monkman

The Faces of Family Medicine project has evolved from individual faces of family medicine in Canada to portraits of providers and communities across the country addressing inequities and challenges in health care.

June’s cover story highlights Anishinabe physician Dr. Lisa Monkman and her work with and on behalf of Indigenous patients both locally in the First Nations community of Brokenhead in Manitoba and in downtown Winnipeg, and more broadly as a founding member of the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada.
