Advisory to members regarding CCSVI and MS

The information shared here was provided to the CFPC in January 2011 by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) and reflects the need for further research on both the possible link between CCSVI and MS and the safety of CCSVI before treatment is offered in Canada. This approach is supported by CIHR, the Canadian Medical Association, The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada, Collège des médecins du Québec, and the Canadian Society of Vascular Surgery. Physicians with related questions should contact the MS Society of Canada or CIHR. Patients with questions related to this topic should consult their family physician, MS specialist, or the MS Society of Canada.
