The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is examining how it can offer more support to family physicians in this area of practice.

Who we are

The Collaborative Advisory Group for General and Family Practice Anesthesia (CAGA) Committee is a committee within the Section of Communities of Practice in Family Medicine (CPFM). It represents the interests of family physician members in Family Practice Anesthesia (FPA). The Committee ensures discussion and communication within the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and its CPFM, the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC) and the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) about issues relevant to members.

CAGA discusses and makes recommendations to the CPFM Council with respect to these CFPC activities:

  • Communications and networking among members involved in Family Practice Anesthesia
  • Development of CFPC policies and/or positions related to patient care and the practice needs/environment of members involved in Family Practice Anesthesia
  • Advocacy on behalf of the members involved in the Family Practice Anesthesia 
  • Identification of areas in need of accredited continuing medical education (CME)/continuing professional development (CPD) programs related to Family Practice Anesthesia
