CFP cover is Alex Coville’s Horse and Train 1954. The horse appears to be galloping toward danger, but the direction of the steam implies the train is stopped.
This month’s issue launches a new series, Third Rail, as part of the Art of Family Medicine section. “Third rail” topics are ones we avoid because they invite argument, spark controversy, or are feared as taboo. The first article in this new series discusses the need for explicit protection of people with disabilities during pandemics. Gracing this month’s cover is Alex Coville’s Horse and Train 1954. The horse appears to be galloping toward danger, but the direction of the steam implies the train is stopped. Should we avoid dangerous topics or run toward them?

CFP is proud to announce that our July 2019 cover, featuring the painting Revelations by Alex Garant, is a National Magazine Award: B2B Gold Winner for Best Illustration! We also received an honourable mention for our May 2019 cover featuring Ken Foster’s haunting illustration of a Vancouver alleyway.
