The CFPC announces its new Executive Director, Professional Development and Practice Support, and Deputy CEO
2024-07-03
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Leonora (Lennie) Lalla assumes her new role with The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) as our Executive Director, Professional Development and Practice Support (PDPS), and Deputy CEO, effective July 2, 2024.
Lennie is no stranger to the CFPC and has had multiple committee roles, including chair, for the past 15 years. She joined the CFPC leadership team in November 2021 as the Director of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and has been the co-interim Executive Director of PDPS since November 2022.
Lennie is a family physician, fluent in French, who has been practicing medicine for over 26 years. Since completing her residency in family medicine at McGill University, she has held multiple roles within the field of medical education.
Lennie is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McGill and a staff member at St. Mary’s Hospital Family Medicine Center with clinical supervision of medical students and family medicine residents. Her CPD focus includes five years (beginning in 2016) as Associate Dean for Continuing Professional Development at the McGill University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; a member of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada CPD Deans’ Committee; and a member of the Committee on the Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education.
With Lennie’s impressive professional background and experience, she is well poised to lead the CFPC’s PDPS division. With her creativity, strategic and innovative thinking, and strong communication and team-building skills, Lennie will continue to be a valued member of our Executive Team as we navigate the challenges facing our organization and further position the CFPC as the family physician’s professional home, providing standards of excellence, a forum for collaboration, and the tools and education to support practice.
In her new role, Lennie will be attending applicable meetings with or on behalf of the Office of the CEO to ensure that our Quebec Chapter and our French-speaking members across Canada are fully supported.
Lennie and her husband, Brian, and their two children live in the beautiful city of Montreal.
Please join me in congratulating Lennie on her new appointment.
