Happy Holidays from the CFPC
2025-12-17

As family doctors ourselves, working as President and as CEO of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has been an honour for each of us. Every day we’re reminded of the profound impact family physicians have on the health and well-being of people in every corner of this country. You provide more than half of all medical services in Canada, caring for patients in clinics, emergency departments, long-term care settings, and across the full spectrum of health needs.
We also recognize the pressures you face: increasing patient complexity, outdated funding models, administrative burden, and rising rates of burnout. These realities underscore the importance of a strong professional home. The CFPC continues to advocate for you, uphold our identity as self-regulating professionals, and set the standards for training and ongoing education. For 45,000 of us across Canada, this professional home is essential.
Together, we have a deep appreciation for the dedicated staff at the CFPC who work tirelessly on behalf of our profession. We want to thank them, and we want to thank each of you for the unwavering care you provide to your patients, colleagues, and communities.
As the holidays near, we hope you find rest, light, and connection. This season can be difficult for some, so please give yourself space and seek support when needed. You are the backbone of our health care systems, and your work makes a profound difference.
From all of us at the CFPC, thank you. We look forward to connecting with you in the coming year.
Warmly,
Sarah Cook, MD, CCFP, FCFP, CCPE, CHE
