The federal government is increasing remuneration to complete the CPP Disability Form

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has worked closely with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to recognize the degree of administrative burden shouldered by family physicians.

We are delighted to announce that ESDC is increasing remuneration for family doctors who complete medical report forms for patients applying for Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPPD) benefits, and is also working with us to improve the initial medical report form.

In recognition of the expertise, time, and effort required to complete the initial CPPD medical report, ESDC will increase the remuneration for family doctors from $85 to $175, effective September 30, 2026.

ESDC is also continuing to work with the CFPC on additional measures to reduce administrative burden. This work includes re-engineering the CPPD initial medical report form to eliminate or reduce key irritants and validating proposed changes with the support of CFPC members.

A launch date for the updated form is expected to be announced later this summer. ESDC will work with the CFPC to invite family physicians to information sessions, such as a webinar, to support our members in completing CPPD applications.
