The College of Family Physicians of Canada is the voice of Family Medicine in Canada. Thank you for considering joining the CFPC as a Non-Member Mainpro+® Participant program. The CFPC encourages and supports family physicians in meeting their CPD goals through a variety of programs and services. As a Non-Member Mainpro+® participant, you will be assigned a five year Mainpro+® cycle during which a total of 250.00 credits should be submitted (at least 125 must be certified credits). To begin, please select the appropriate member class:
A licensed physician in good standing who is engaged in the practice of family medicine, pays annual fees as set by the Board, fulfills CPD requirements, and belongs to both the National College and a Chapter.
A licensed physician in good standing whose primary practice is a specialty other than family medicine and who holds Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or another certifying body recognized by the College, and pays annual fees set by the Board and fulfills CPD requirements, and who may or may not choose to belong to a Chapter in addition to belonging to the National College.
A physician enrolled as a resident in an approved postgraduate training program in family medicine, or a physician who was previously a Member of the College and is now enrolled as a resident in an approved postgraduate training program in a medical discipline other than family medicine, and who pays an annual fee as set by the Board, fulfills CPD requirements, and belongs to both the National College and a Chapter.
An individual enrolled in a Canadian university faculty of medicine undergraduate program leading to the MD degree who formally indicates an interest in College membership, pays an annual fee as determined by the Board, and is not required to fulfill CPD requirements. Student Members belong to both the National College and a Chapter.
An individual or health professional other than a family physician who works in collaboration with family physicians in clinical practice or academic departments of family medicine, who pays an annual fee as determined by the Board, and does not fulfill CPD requirements. An Associate Member may choose whether or not to become a Member of the Chapter in his or her province in addition to being a Member of the National College.
A licensed physician in good standing who is engaged in the practice of family medicine whose main practice or residence is outside Canada, and who pays annual fees as set by the Board, fulfills CPD requirements, and belongs to both the National College and a Chapter. Physicians may submit credits for CPD completed in the United States.
Your primary address will be used as your mailing address.
The College is pleased to offer an opportunity for CFPC members to become linked to colleagues with similar practice interests - be they part of comprehensive practices or substantial or full-time commitments. To participate, simply indicate your interest in one or more of the programs listed below. Other programs will be added to this list as they are approved by the CFPC Board of Directors. There will be no added fees or other requirements expected of you to become part of this College activity. The special interest programs will focus on
(i) linking colleagues with similar interests;
(ii) providing input into College policies and positions;
(iv) identifying needed accredited CME/CPD programs; and, in some areas where additional Board approved criteria have been met,
(v) exploring opportunities for recognition of academic standing.
Student membership is available to those currently studying at a canadian medical school.
If you are currently studying outside Canada, your membership cannot be approved at this time. However, once you become a resident, you may be eligible if you are in an approved residency training program in Canada or the United States.

career in family medicine.
If you are a PGY1 resident, your membership will be automatically handled for you
by your Program Director and CFPC staff within the period of July – October. As a PGY1, your first year of
membership is complimentary.
If you are PGY2 – your membership will be automatically updated from PGY1 to PGY2.
The applicable resident fee will apply and is required to sit the certification examination in family medicine.
If you are doing additional residency training, or are returning to residency from
practice, please provide proof of your resident enrollment from your program to [email protected].
