Practising Well

In 2026/27, Practising Well sessions will be offered in a two-session series format where consecutive sessions focus on a similar general topic with each event doing a deeper dive on the topic. For March and April, we are focusing on family physicians and WSIB.

Navigating WSIB for Family Physicians: Improving Patient Access and Your Practice

Watch our March 25th session and earn Mainpro+ credits with the Self Learning™ Program

Many family physicians struggle with completing WSIB forms and advising patients on workplace injuries. This session provides practical guidance on when to offer WSIB support, how to complete and bill forms, and how to counsel patients who fear employer repercussions. By improving your WSIB knowledge, you’ll help patients access coverage and avoid unnecessary out-of-pocket costs.

Return-to-Work Planning in Family Medicine: Practical WSIB Considerations

April 22nd, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (ET) – Register

Supporting patients with return to work planning and related WSIB documentation, such as FAF forms, can be complex for family physicians, particularly when balancing clinical care with administrative demands. In this session, we will consider approaches to supporting patients in returning to full or modified duties in an efficient and practical manner.

Health Equity Community of Practice

Caring for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

April 30th, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (ET) – Register

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience significant health inequities. Family physicians and primary care providers play a key role in addressing these gaps. In this session, our panelists will review research on health disparities and introduce the Canadian Consensus Guidelines on the Primary Care of Adults with IDD, and explore practical approaches to physical and mental health care, including preventive screening, chronic disease management, supported decision making, and strategies for assessing behaviours that challenge.

What British Columbia Family Physicians Told Us About Digital Red Tape

During Red Tape Awareness Week, we asked family physicians across British Columbia to tell us how disconnected digital systems are impacting their practice. More than 160 physicians responded, and the results confirm what we’ve long been hearing on the ground.

We’re calling on the British Columbia government to make meaningful investments in EMR interoperability and the modernization of its digital health infrastructure. Reducing digital red tape in primary care would have direct, measurable impact on the quality and accessibility of care for patients and communities across the province.
