During its Annual Meeting of Members on May 23rd, the Quebec College of Family Physicians (QCFP) took the opportunity to recognize two outgoing Board Directors, Dr. Jessy Boilard and Dr. Christian Rheault, for their important contributions. Two new Board Directors, Dr. Caroline Mercier and Dr. Nebojsa Kovacina, were also elected. Every other member was reappointed. We are very pleased to introduce the new Board of Directors.

COVID-19 Community of Practice

The Changing the Way We Work COVID-19 Community of Practice for family physicians, created in partnership with the OCFP and University of Toronto’s Department of Family and Community Medicine, held its 94th session on July 18th. The recording, slide deck, and Q&A are available for review. After a brief break in August, the next session is planned for September 5, 2025.

Practising Well Community of Practice

Join the Practising Well Community of Practice on August 27, 2025, as our panel will discuss the general approach to social prescribing and the types of community-based programs family physicians should consider referring their patients to. Registration is now open.

The Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) and the Alberta Medical Association (AMA)’s Accelerating Change Transformation Team (ACTT) are collaborating to present the inaugural Family Medicine Innovation Forum (FMIF) on October 4, 2025.

The one-day event at Mayfield Dinner Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta, aims to bring together health leaders, creative thinkers, and trailblazers in family medicine and primary care to showcase best practices and innovations that are transforming and improving patient care in the province. Globally recognized innovation strategist Shawn Kanungo will host and be the featured keynote for the FMIF.

Celebrating Family Physicians

On May 15, 2025, the BCCFP Awards Celebration brought together the family medicine community to recognize our 2025 award recipients, including the BC Family Physician of the Year and the patient-nominated My Family Doctor Award recipients.

Our Awards Celebration is the only event in British Columbia dedicated to recognizing and championing the vital work of family physicians and family practice residents across the province. Thank you to all those who joined us on this special evening, including Premier David Eby.
