Our certified, interactive one-day training session “Pour une pratique éclairée : une utilisation judicieuse des examens et des traitements” (Informed Practice – Using Tests and Treatment Wisely) equips participants with practical clinical tools and supports meaningful changes in practice. Award Spotlight: Outstanding new professionals
The ACFP is proud to celebrate family physicians in their early careers whose leadership, innovation, initiative, and dedication in various aspects of the family medicine profession are exemplary, setting a standard for their generation of health care professionals. It honours two recipients—Dr. Megan Findlay and Dr. Amanda Wang—with the ACFP Awards 2025 Outstanding New Professional (ONP).

2026 BCCFP Awards Nominations Open Until February 26

We want to invite you to celebrate the contributions of family physicians across British Columbia at the BCCFP’s 2026 Awards. Nominations are open until February 26, 2026.
Physician and Resident Nominated Awards
Family physicians and residents in British Columbia can nominate peers who demonstrate exceptional dedication to family medicine:
- BC Family Physician of the Year: Honouring outstanding contributions to the field of family medicine
- First Five Years of Family Practice Award: Two awards recognizing excellence in early practice (rural and urban)
- Residents Awards: Five awards including $1,500 to support residents advancing family medicine (self-nominations accepted)
Patient Nominated Award
Patients can nominate their trusted family physician through the My Family Doctor Award. Five family physicians, one from each geographic health region, receive this recognition annually.
All nominees must be BCCFP members and not current Board members.

Empower: Excellence in teaching, education, and mentorship
This award celebrates family physicians who foster the next generation through teaching excellence, educational leadership, and valuable mentorship. Our recipients Dr. Ian Kirby, Dr. James Card, and Dr. Simon Moore demonstrate how investing in the next generation strengthens the entire field of family medicine.
Advocate: Leadership in health care system change
For family physicians who shape health policy and drive systems change, creating a more equitable, patient-centred health care system. Our recipients Dr. Lorelei Johnson, Dr. Amy Cuthbertson, Dr. Goldis Mitra, and Dr. Jennifer Kask exemplify the bold leadership needed to transform health care delivery across our province.
Connect: Community leadership and peer support
We honour family physicians who serve as cornerstones of care, leading community health initiatives and fostering collaborative practices. Our recipients Dr. Kraig Montalbetti, Dr. David Jerome, and Dr. Sukaina Kara show how family physicians strengthen their communities through service and connection.
The BCCFP congratulates all eleven recipients and thanks their nominators for recognizing their invaluable contributions to family medicine in the province.
