Member notification: Cyber Breach
2024-04-05
The CFPC deeply regrets that this cyber incident occurred and is committed to protecting the security and confidentiality of the information entrusted to us.
After we found out about this incident, we immediately took steps to secure our network and implemented additional security measures to help safeguard against further unauthorized activity. We then conducted an analysis of what happened and what may have been exposed in the systems, to understand the extent and scope of the incident. The analysis was significant and took several months to complete, and we notified you as soon as we could after completing our review of the affected data.
Since the incident, the College has increased the security monitoring of its systems and through the use of outsourced security provider, these systems are now being monitored continuously.
For those who may have had financial information exposed, you will have been specifically notified and offered free credit monitoring. Please note that no credit card information was exposed, as the CFPC does not store credit card information in its systems. If you received a notification but it did not offer free credit monitoring, it means that your financial information was not exposed.
We understand that you are concerned, and that you may still have many questions. We encourage you to call our toll-free call centre, which is open from 9am to 9pm Eastern Time at 1‑888‑680‑7702. Our representatives are ready to answer any further questions.
