Dr. Leonora Lalla appointed Executive Director, Excellence and Self-Regulation in Family Medicine

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Leonora (Lennie) Lalla has been appointed Executive Director, Excellence and Self-Regulation in Family Medicine, effective March 30, 2026. In this new role, Dr. Lalla’s mandate will include educational standards (including postgraduate education, continuing professional development [CPD], and Certificates of Added Competence), accreditation of postgraduate family medicine programs, family medicine examinations, and member support for CPD reporting.
Dr. Lalla brings extensive experience in family medicine and medical education along with a strong track record of leadership within the CFPC. In her current roles as Executive Director, Professional Development and Practice Support and Deputy CEO, she has led national initiatives to strengthen CPD, advance standards, and support members across the country.
Dr. Lalla completed her family medicine residency at St. Mary's Hospital Family Medicine Centre in Montreal, where she has continued to practise for over 28 years. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the McGill University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She has held multiple roles within the field of medical education at McGill, including six years as Undergraduate Family Medicine Program Director and five years as Associate Dean for Continuing Professional Development. Dr. Lalla holds the designation by the Coalition for Physician Learning and Practice Improvement and is a member of the Committee on the Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME).
