Dr. Destiny Lu-Cleary was elected to the Board of Directors in 2025.

She received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia in 2021 and completed her family medicine residency at NOSM University in 2023, and was awarded Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada the same year.

Following residency, Dr. Lu-Cleary continued her commitment to serving rural and remote regions across Northern Ontario, providing primary, emergency, and in-patient care in communities including Thessalon, Wawa, Sault Ste. She has recently relocated to her hometown of Coquitlam, British Columbia, and looks forward to resuming clinical work with underserved populations.

Dr. Lu-Cleary is passionate about medical education and currently serves as a clinical lecturer at NOSM University. During residency, she served as Senator on the founding NOSM Senate as the university transitioned to an independent medical university, representing all learners at the institution’s highest level of academic governance. She also served as the resident representative on the Family Medicine Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement Committee, advocating for continuous program improvement and resident learning experiences.

Dr. Lu-Cleary is deeply committed to health equity and innovation. She has a special interest in developing technologies and systems to improve care delivery in underserved and remote communities, and has consulted for several health technology startups. While in medical school, she also contributed to advocacy efforts to strengthen immigrant health literacy and access to care through her work on the Board of the Chinese-Canadian Medical Society.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing with her recently adopted kitten and is learning the art and science of espresso making.
