Dr. Burton McCann is a family physician with a focused practice in occupational medicine and a special interest in veterans’ health. He is an assistant professor in Dalhousie University’s Department of Family Medicine. He holds degrees in psychology, law, and medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. McCann is an instructor for both Parts A and B of the Foundation Course in Occupational Medicine.
His diverse professional experiences include serving as a Canadian Armed Forces medical officer and base flight surgeon, a comprehensive family physician, and the national director of medical services with Veterans Affairs Canada. Dr. McCann’s professional passion is developing and promoting occupational medicine, including veterans’ health, to medical students, residents, and family physicians across Canada.
