In May 2012, the Maternity and Newborn Care Program Committee released the Report of the Working Group on Family Medicine Maternity Care Training.

It builds on the recommendations of a 2009 report and re-examines the suitability of current maternity care education and training in family medicine residency programs. Recognizing the trends over recent years in the number of family physicians providing intrapartum care, the paper addresses the related issues while focusing on maintaining quality care for all patients.
