Congratulations to Dr. Alexis Ricard, 2024 recipient of the Nadine St-Pierre Award
Dr. Alexis Ricard, of McGill University, has distinguished himself for the quality of his scholarly work titled L’embolie pulmonaire à l’urgence, un angioscan pour tous? (Pulmonary embolism in the emergency setting: does everyone need a CTA scan?). In this retrospective study that examined the diagnostic approach of pulmonary embolism in the emergency setting, Dr. Ricard showed that the appropriate us of a pre-test likelihood score combined with D-dimer testing was a safe method of assessing the risk of pulmonary embolism. This approach could reduce the use of imaging studies in the emergency department, thereby reducing the associated costs and adverse effects for patients. The QCFP is proud to honour its 2024 award winners!
