Patient’s Medical Home Summary of Evidence
To assess how aligning with the PMH vision affects the provision of care in family practices, an evidence summary was produced after a thorough literature review. Results indicate that alignment with PMH principles enhances patient access to care and increases patient and provider satisfaction without increasing health care costs.

CanMEDS–Family Medicine (CanMEDS-FM) Indigenous Health Supplement
The Indigenous Health Committee at the CFPC has developed the CanMEDS-FM Indigenous Health Supplement, which outlines the expected competencies that will foster important knowledge, effective therapeutic interactions and culturally safe care of Indigenous patients, families and communities.

Summary: Member survey feedback regarding discontinuing Healthcare / Pharmaceutical Industry (HPI) booths from CFPC's Family Medicine Forum (FMF) Exhibit Hall
Members provided feedback on two questions: 1. What is your level of support for discontinuing HPI exhibitors from FMF over the next three to five years? 2. What is your level of support for a potential future increase in annual CFPC membership fees (approximately $50 annually for an Active member) to offset the loss of HPI revenues at FMF, if cost-saving measures are not enough? Comments shared by responding members are also included.

CFPC Position Statement: A call to limit the detention of immigrants
This position statement was created by the members of the Prison Health Program Committee of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). The committee aims to represent the interests of all CFPC members who provide care to incarcerated men, women, and youth and to these individuals’ families and communities; for these CFPC members this care may be part of a broad-scope family practice or a special interest/focused practice.

Innovation in Primary Care: Integration of Pharmacists Into Interprofessional Teams
For the third issue in the series, the CFPC partnered with the Canadian Pharmacists Association to highlight exemplary instances of interaction and engagement involving family physicians and pharmacists across Canada. Cases from Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario demonstrate how family physicians and pharmacists can work together and share resources to address challenges such as fragmented care; access to timely and reliable drug information and management; safe prescribing; coordination of community services; and more to provide high-quality patient care and improve patient satisfaction.

Management of Relationships With the Health Care/Pharmaceutical Industry
The January 2019 report entitled Management of Relationships with the Healthcare/Pharmaceutical Industry includes information on this important issue for the CFPC’s fiscal years 2016–2017 and 2017–2018. Following the 2013 Task Force report, the CFPC Board further mandated that the College report regularly on the implementation of the approved recommendations in the areas of continuing professional development (CPD), Family Medicine Forum (FMF), and Canadian Family Physician (CFP).

Letter to Health Minister Jane Philpott on mental health services and funding
The federal government recently discussed funding of mental health care services with Provinces and Territories in the context of a new Health Accord. The CFPC joined with the Canadian Psychiatric Association to write to Health Minister Jane Philpott with the CFPC's guidance on how mental health services can be better integrated with primary care.

The CFPC, Canadian Medical Association, and The Canadian National Specialty Society for Community Medicine (NSSCM) wrote to Prime Minister Stephen Harper stating that Canada must eliminate asbestos production and exportation, and encourage economic activity that does not endanger the public's health.
