Practice Facilitation, Coaching, and Support
There is a growing body of evidence that points to the effectiveness of a facilitation model to support QI in practices. Practice facilitators are proving to be very important enablers for busy practices in British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec.
A component of the Pii project is to develop an advocacy tool kit to help Chapters, departments of family medicine, and other regional and provincial partners to make the case to provincial governments for practice facilitation support and to initiate collaboration between governments and organizations such as the Chapters and medical associations in this area. The Case for Practice Facilitation Within Primary Care: A primer and advocacy guide is available for download.
Advocacy Guide
The Advocacy Guide includes topics such as the rationale for practice facilitators to support QI and use electronic medical record (EMR) data, the evidence that supports that role, the role profiles and competencies required, as well as models of implementation and resources.
