The College of Family Physicians of Canada welcomes Dr. Carrie Bernard as its 2024–2025 President

(Mississauga, ON) – The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Carrie Bernard is the President of the College for the 2024–2025 term. A dedicated family physician, educator, and researcher, Dr. Bernard brings to this role a wealth of experience and a demonstrated commitment to advancing family medicine.
Since 1999, Dr. Bernard has been providing comprehensive care to patients at the Queen Square Family Health Team in Brampton, Ontario. Her commitment to medical education is evident in her roles as an assistant professor at the University of Toronto and an assistant clinical professor at McMaster University, where she actively contributes to the training and mentorship of future family physicians.
Following a recent diagnosis of post-acute Sars-COV2 infection (long COVID), Dr. Bernard is taking a break from her clinical duties.
Dr. Bernard's dedication to improving health extends beyond her clinical practice. She has served as a member of Public Health Ontario’s Infections disease advisory committee and volunteered her expertise with Médecins Sans Frontières in Uganda. She has extensive experience in the area of medical ethics, having served as a member of the Humanitarian Health Ethics Research Group and the Ontario COVID-19 Bioethics Table.
Dr. Bernard's election as President marks a significant milestone in her career and is a testament to her outstanding contributions to family medicine. The CFPC welcomes the opportunity to work with Dr. Bernard over the next year as President and looks forward to her leadership and dedication to the College and members.
