Dr Michael QuonMichael Quon
Dr. Michael Quon is a general internist at the Ottawa Hospital. After re-entering the workforce following a traumatic brain injury, he became a dedicated advocate to improve support and inclusion of physicians with disabilities and chronic conditions. He co-led the accessibility and accommodations policy for physicians with disabilities at the Ottawa Hospital, the first of its kind in Canada. He then collaborated with the Ontario Medical Association to raise awareness of physicians’ right to work with accommodations in the hospital environment. His perspective that well-being planning should address ableism was published in JAMA. He in the invited co-chair of an Inclusive Workforce working group for the Royal College National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being.


Dr Ojistoh HornOjistoh Horn
Dr. Ojistoh Kahnawahere Horn is from the Kanienkeha:ka (Mohawk) communities of Kahnawake and Akwesasne. For 16 years, she has worked as a family physician taking care of her people through all stages of the lifecycle. Supervising medical students and family medicine residents during their rural rotations in Akwesasne, and in her new role as the Medical Director of Clinical Care in the Department of Health in Akwesasne, she teaches the complexities of providing primary care to Indigenous peoples and their communities. Drawing on both Western and Traditional paradigms she focuses on the effects of the environment and pollution on health.


Daily schedule:

Thursday, April 3rd: Arrive at your leisure and enjoy the gorgeous resort. Take in the spa or relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Friday, April 4th, and Saturday, April 5th: Enjoy a full breakfast, keynote presentation, concurrent sessions, lunch, optional wellness activities, and a group dinner.

Sunday April 6th: Full breakfast, closing ceremonies and departure.

  1. Apply evidence-based strategies to enhance overall well-being by implementing physical, mental, and emotional wellness practices
  2. Plan and implement effective wellness practices both in clinical settings and personal lives
  3. Develop strategies to foster a culture of well-being within the workplace, sharing resources or materials with colleagues, and exploring collaborative wellness initiatives that can be implemented as a team

    You can enjoy many daily wellness activities to choose from, including:

    Snowshoeing in Kananaskis

    Embark on a winter wonderland adventure through pristine snow-covered landscapes. Expert guides will lead you through enchanting trails with breathtaking views. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a first-time snowshoer, this tour is designed for all skill levels, promising an unforgettable experience.

    Kananaskis game show-style scavenger hunt

    A game show-style adventure will have you racing for the finish line! Participants will be divided into small teams that will navigate around the Kananaskis Village, solving clues and overcoming physical and mental challenges while competing against the clock.

    Troll Falls hike

    The Troll Falls hike is one of the best hikes in Kananaskis. A stunning walk through an evergreen and aspen forest to a beautiful Marmot Creek waterfall. This is a real crowd pleaser and is one of the most popular hikes in all of Kananaskis.

    Fat bike tour

    Head out on these impressive winter tire bikes where experienced guides will lead you through scenic trails. Traverse snowy landscapes and witness the beauty of a frozen waterfall as you pedal through the crisp winter air. Create lasting memories on this unforgettable biking experience, silly smiles guaranteed! This tour is geared for those with some biking experience and moderate fitness levels.

    Dance class or guided yoga practice

    Stay on site where experienced leaders will recharge and energize you through the movement of dance OR yoga. All skills levels welcome.

    Free Time

    Make this your own experience. Forgo the organized group activity and do your own thing. This could include the spa, gym, shopping, soaking in the mountain air, or a leisurely afternoon of R&R.

  • Interested in speaking at the retreat?

    We are currently planning the scientific program, including the speaker selection. If you are interested in speaking at the retreat, please send an email to [email protected] and include your name, the topic, and information about your presentation and any experience you have. This information will be shared with members of the scientific planning committee who are working on the speaker list. While we appreciate all submissions, please note that selection is not guaranteed. However, we may consider your submission for future events.

  • Who can attend the 2025 Physician Wellness Retreat?

    All physicians and health care professionals are welcome to join the retreat. Guests can register to access meals, the keynotes, and panel discussion. Rates and more information are available on the registration site.

  • What does a guest pass include?

    A guest pass includes access to all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the retreat), the keynotes on Friday and Saturday, and the panel discussion on Sunday.

  • Can I bring my family members, including children?

    Accompanying people, including children, are welcomed at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, which offers family friendly and group activities such as nature walks, swimming, and more. For details about the lodge’s children’s programs, nanny services, and other offerings, please visit their website: https://lodgeatkananaskis.com/family-time/.

    The CFPC Physician Wellness Retreat is designed for an adult audience, and the meals and buffets provided reflect this focus. Older children (12 plus) can be registered for all meals with a full guest pass or for individual meals during the retreat, if preferred. For younger children, we recommend either bringing another adult to assist with childcare or arranging nanny services in advance.

    Additionally, please note that the wellness activities are available on a first-come, first-served basis for registered participants.

  • What is the cancellation and refund policy?

    Registration fees

    • Cancel by January 15, 2025, for a full refund, less a $50 processing fee
    • Cancel by February 15, 2025, for a 50 per cent refund
    • Registration fees are non-refundable after February 16, 2025

    Wellness activity and shuttle fees

    • All wellness activity and the shuttle fees are non-refundable
  • Is there a promotional code available for registration?
